Herbert Hoover's Response to the depression:
1. -High Tariffs - Success for US businesses, part of isolationism policy
2. -Laissez faire capitalism - private ownership with little infringement from the
government
3. -Government restriction on immigration, particularly Asians during this period
-Overproduction a major cause for both agricultural recession and stock market crash
-Free Enterprise
-Introduces socialist measures
-Unhappy people name slums “Hoovervilles”
-Replaced by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 election
