Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD)
-Mutually Assured Destruction, also known as MAD, actually prevented many instances of war in a way. MAD meant that if one country fired a nuclear missile at another, they would most like also get hit back by the other country, resulting in no winner. No one wanted to destroy themselves, so nuclear weapons are in a way a deterrent.
