Taiwan
- After the separation of Mao from the Kuomintang, and the creation of the Communist Party of China, there began a Civil war in the country of china between these two groups.
- All the while, China as a whole was engaged in a battle against Japan, who had occupied the territory of manchuria.
- The Kuomintang were far more occupied with the Communist problem, to the point of ignoring the better part of the Japanese problem. The Communist saw to deal with the invaders first.
- As a result, the Chinese people saw more merit in the Communist party than the Kuomintang.
- As the popularity of the Kuomintang fell, and they became more and more isolated from the rest of China as a whole, they fled to the island of Formosa, and created the alternative, democratic Chinese state now called Taiwan.
