The Great Leap forward
· Mao’s new economic Plan after five year plans criticized.
· China organized in to 28000 communes (groups of people that produced things together)
· The organization of these communes were disruptive because they were formed largely by taking people away from what they were traditionally good at (bankers to do farm work).
· Main factors
o Great industrial and scientific activity
o Muscle power used to build dams an irrigation systems. (A result of the lack of technology/ equipment)
o Small communal factories.
· Famine, as a result of the removal of farmers from their work to participate in industrial factories, resulted in 30,000,000 deaths.
